As a women’s business council, we experience many presentations during the course of a year. In 2010, we benefited from two great presentations by Kathy Light. Both sessions were heartfelt and reality based. We consider ourselves truly blessed to have had her share insights on “Making the Most of Your Time” and “Creating the Business of Your Dreams.” We couldn’t have been more pleased with the insights and information Kathy shared!

Reasons Why YOU ROCK! ©
If you are like most people, you spend a disproportionate amount of time focused on what you perceive is wrong with you, the mistakes you’ve made, or where you think you have failed in your life – basically, beating yourself up. In doing this, you are failing to recognize and celebrate what you’ve done right and what is amazing about you. And the sad truth about this reality is that not only does it cause you to miss out on opportunities to feel good, it causes you to miss out on opportunities to do good. When we feel good about ourselves, we are much more likely to perform at our best, to reach our God-given potential, and to inspire others to be at their best, too. Even the most “successful “ people need continual reminders about what makes them great, and they are lifted up and inspired by those reminders.
Reasons Why YOU ROCK! is based on the concepts and activities in Kathy Light’s new book Reasons Why YOU ROCK! Realize Your Greatness and Amplify Your Personal Power. In this uplifting and interactive workshop, Kathy will help you understand why it’s critically important to realize the Reasons Why YOU ROCK, and put you on the path to discovering the greatness in you.
Kathy Light is the light at the front of any room, lights up a room and shines through her audience. From keynote to workshop, Kathy’s reputation glows. As speaker, author, facilitator and inspirational trainer, Kathy demonstrates creative and engaging material and presentations for all audiences including sales professionals, business owners, advisors and even others in the coaching/consulting practice. I highly recommend Kathy from my own participation in her “Reasons Why YOU ROCK” workshop and her outstanding presentation for BHarmony.

Making the Most of Your Time
Most people let circumstances rule their time rather than defining what is most important to them and scheduling their time to match those priorities. Time management is really decision management. We don’t manage time, but rather, the decisions we make about how and where to spend our time. This session will give you the tools you need to recognize how to best spend your time, and get you started using them to maximize your business and personal success.
Learning to Look on the Bright Side
Being an optimist can literally save your life! People who are optimists are healthier, happier, more succesful in their work, and have better relationships. Optimism is a learned skill, and the biggest difference between optimists and pessimists is in the way they think. In this presentation you will learn:
- Three key differences between optimistic and pessimistic thinking
- How to reframe pessimistic thinking, and
- Strategies to maintain optimism long-term
How Intelligent Are Your Emotions?
Leading a business, leading others, and leading yourself can be very challenging, especially in a difficult economic environment. Many struggle, but others thrive. What’s their secret? It’s about their emotions and a set of skills often called emotional intelligence. Emotions drive everything we do, including how we handle stress, build relationships, make decisions, and lead others. And a well-developed emotional intelligence, or EQ, is what consistently differentiates the very best performers from their peer group. Fortunately for us all, EQ can be learned! In this presentation, Kathy teaches you::
- What EQ is
- How to assess your own EQ in five key areas, and
- How you can develop your EQ to help you achieve maximum effectiveness.
The Power of Gratitude
Research tells us that people who practice an attitude of gratitude are higher in positive emotions and life satisfaction, and lower in negative emotions such as depression and envy. Living a life of gratitude can be richly rewarding. Not only can individuals benefit from practicing gratitude, teams and organizations who take time to celebrate what’s right are far more likely to stay motivated and engaged in their work. In this session, you will:
- Learn about the meaning and benefits of gratitude
- Measure your own level of gratitude
- Discover what you are truly grateful for, and how to maintain your own attitude of gratitude
- For teams, discover what you appreciate about each other, and about the work you do together. Learn how to maintain your sense of appreciation to increase satisfaction and productivity in the workplace.
Living in Alignment with Your Values
Our values are those qualities most important to us, that, when honored, help us to feel as though our lives are in harmony. Often our actions are out of alignment with our values, causing anxiety, stress and unhappiness. Discovering what we truly value is a first step to living in alignment. For organizations, discovering team or company values is a first step towards creating the values-driven behaviors that make for a positive and productive work environment. In this session, you will:
- Identify the core values that will guide you as you make important decisions about how to live your life. For teams, identify core values that will guide team behaviors and decision-making.
- Explore when and where you may be acting out of alignment with your values. For teams, identify areas where core team values are most challenged.
- Understand how to create alignment between values and actions.
- Develop a plan to increase and maintain alignment.
Mapping the Life You Want for Yourself
The best way to achieve your goals and dreams is to be specific and visual. The more you can describe exactly what you want and be able to visualize it, the easier it will be for you to obtain it. This workshop will help you identify what you really want and get you started in creating your own Life Map, to visually represent your intentions for the next year of your life. You will:
- Examine your own Life Wheel, determining where you are today and where you want to be in the next year
- Document your strongest goals in the place where most change is desired
- Share your strongest goals with others who will help you identify why they are so important to you and get crystal clear about your desires
- Begin to create a visual representation of those goals on your Life Map
Assertive Communication for Women
Often women assume that assertiveness and aggression are the same thing, so they shy away from assertive behaviors for fear of being labeled pushy or controlling. But in lacking assertiveness women often surrender their goals and desires to the goals and desires of others. In this session, you will:
- Review common communication mistakes made by many women
- Practice correcting and avoiding those mistakes
- Learn what it means to be assertive without being “pushy.”
- Understand how your communication limitations are holding you back
- Determine your own communication goal and map out a plan to achieve it
